Finger Lakes Destination Wedding Flowers

Whether the Finger Lakes are right in your back yard or you’re traveling to make this your destination wedding site, here are a few helpful, cost saving tips for beautiful flowers.

The Finger Lakes region offers picturesque landscapes, unique activities, WINE and much more. Utilize the beautiful surroundings that nature has to offer. The photo opportunities are endless.

1

Lakeside ceremonies provide beautiful blue backdrops, however you may choose to feature a few decor items.

2

An archway or draped decor rental item can easily be erected to enhance your ceremony site.

3

Make the most of your “chosen spot”. Roam the vineyards for that perfect photo, but also consider accenting existing on site structures with floral decor.

4

Re-purpose large arrangements from ceremony structures for an indoor mantle or table at the reception.

5

Decorate with garlands of lush greenery, coordinate with large ferns for a rustic-chic setting. Dual-use items such as garlands can be placed as table runners for the reception site.

6

“When in Rome….” let’s make the most of wine country. Themed accessories such as wine bottles, corks and barrels make great beginnings of beautiful floral designs.

7

Accent with grapes, natural vine and LOTS OF CANDLES.

8

If you like the trendy long farmhouse table, consider multiple mix and match floral designs. Alternate sizes (small bud vases with tall elevated designs) and styles to coordinate with candles.

9

Transition cascading floral designs from the ceremony to reception. For a trendy look, place at the end of long tables as an end cap arrangement. Accent with paper table runners, like this amazing gold chevron design!

Time to get schooled on the latest trends in Entertaining with Flowers with Wendy Rockcastle at  Rochester Brainery.  And here to tell us all about this exciting new class is Wendy herself: 422460_10150748534748179_1198436643_n “On Wednesday, May 22 I will be teaching a hands on class for the new Rochester Brainery School in the Village Gate.   I’m very excited about this new classroom setting that the Brainery has to offer.  When I first learned of the Rochester Brainery and their unique classroom concepts I couldn’t wait to get involved.

Next week I will be demonstrating how to utilize household items for floral designs for entertaining.  I will also have suggestions for low-cost items that you can purchase to have on hand for special occasions.  My recommendations will also include the best fresh flowers to choose when undertaking such projects.  This is an easy, beginner’s class that’s sure to be fun for all.  We will also have plenty of time for Q&A as we go along.”

Aside from Wendy’s “Entertaining With Flowers” class, there are many other classes students can take at the Brainery.  Classes range from swing dancing to debt management and just about everything in between.

There is still room to register online at http://rochesterbrainery.com/.  Hope to see you in the class!
